I don’t know about you . . . . but I am so happy to see spring today in Charlotte!  It might not be the sunniest of days, but I am happy to put the super cold weather behind me!   Take a peek at a fun spring inspiration shoot that Olive Paper helped out with!  I love these images . . . so fresh, soft and delicate! Please see a full list of partners at the end of this post.  xoxo – deb

the wedding planner!

FOUR brides were surveyed …. FOUR brides that hired planners.  See why these ladies were SO extremely happy with their decision and investment in a wedding planner.  In my years in the Event Industry in Charlotte, I’ve seen lots of brides spend lots of money on their wedding day, but the single best thing you can do is HIRE a professional wedding planner.  These are just a sampling of the amazing wedding planners I’ve worked with over the years, and they are all experts in their field.  Take a moment to see why!

KAYLA H.

WEDDING PLANNER: JOHN GANDY EVENTS, TALAHASSEE, FLORIDA

 1. Why did you initially feel like it was important to hire a wedding planner?  You suggested it! But no really…we wanted a professional’s help so that our day could be as stress-free and as gorgeous as possible.

2. When you were at your wedding ceremony / reception, what was the number one reason you were happy to have that wedding planner by your side?  We did not have to worry about a single thing…they made sure everything happened exactly how it should! We just had the time of our lives!!

3. If you had it to do all over again, would you still hire that planner?  Absolutely!!!

MEGAN H.

WEDDING PLANNER: DBB EVENTS, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA

1. Why did you initially feel like it was important to hire a wedding planner? My main concern with my wedding day was that I wanted my fiancé, the wedding party, my family and myself relaxed and calm. I knew that this would not be possible without hiring someone to handle all the madness and chaos that is inevitable on a wedding day. Hands down best decision I ever made.

2. When you were at your wedding ceremony / reception, what was the number one reason you were happy to have that wedding planner by your side?  The number one reason I was thankful to have a wedding planner were the smiles on everyone’s faces. Everyone was blown away with the details, decor, party and food- all of which would have not been curated beautifully without a planner by my side.

3. If you had it to do all over again, would you still hire that planner?  A million times over!!!! YES!!!!

JENN K.

WEDDING PLANNER: CAROLINA EVENT DESIGN, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA

1. Why did you initially feel like it was important to hire a wedding planner?  With my fiancé and my mom living in different states at the time, it was important to have a strong support system by my side in planning my wedding. Our wedding planning got started at a time in the year when a lot of venues and vendors get booked, so it was important to have someone who knew a strong network of vendors that she had previous connections with and excellent recommendations for.

2. When you were at your wedding ceremony / reception, what was the number one reason you were happy to have that wedding planner by your side?  My planner, Heather, brought my vision to life in a way I could have never dreamt up of myself. She kept me at ease throughout the day and created beautiful moments and memories that everyone present will cherish.

3. If you had it to do all over again, would you still hire that planner?  AB-SO-LUTELY!

RACHEL S.

WEDDING PLANNER: COME + TOGETHER EVENTS, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA

1. Why did you initially feel like it was important to hire a wedding planner?  I am a young professional trying to start my career, so there was no time for me to do any groundwork.  Plus, I wanted an element of design that I am not creative enough to do myself.

2. When you were at your wedding ceremony / reception, what was the number one reason you were happy to have that wedding planner by your side?  I literally just showed up to my wedding, no stressors, no decisions to make, nothing to do but get hitched and dance the night away.  The last thing I wanted to do was to coordinate vendors going in different directions.  I spend my life making decisions at the office.  This day required me to just say YES to the groom.

3. If you had it to do all over again, would you still hire that planner?  ABSOLUTELY.  Katrina is PERFECTION.

THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER GOODIES TO SHARE – especially PAPER GOODIES …. SO THERE MIGHT BE A PART 2!

my love/hate relationship

So I have to admit – I have a love hate relationship with the US Postal Service.

It’s a necessary ‘evil’ in my world.  Well, in all of our worlds.  But they are especially a thorn in my side …. and event planners & brides …. who are sending out wedding invitations & other pretty paper goodies.

Sometimes they aren’t so pretty once they reach the guests’ hands.

Here’s a few facts that you may not realize….

1. Just because you spent an hour in the post office (which probably doesn’t smell like roses) hand-canceling the pretty postage you just spent a small fortune on, they MIGHT just run them through the electronic canceling machine anyway.

2. The postal workers do not care that you just spent 2 months with a designer creating a masterpiece that might cost $15 a pop.  Sad, but true.  That scenario might go something like this . . . . . .

“Gosh, I am sorry – I don’t know how your envelope got torn to pieces …. but we did put everything in a plastic baggie before sending it on to the recipient.”  True story y’all.

3. EVERY sorting machine is run by a computer.  Computer’s DO NOT care that you spent a small fortune on your invitations.

4. Depending on the guests’ location in the United States (or across the pond) your invitations could go through about 3 to 5 of these awesome computer-run machines.

5. These said machines that sort these pretty little envelopes get hot as FIRE.  Literally so hot they can melt ink that has dryed for DAYS or WEEKS.

WHYYYYYY am I telling you this?!?!? ….. Trust me – there’s a point to all of this.

1. Using an envelope liner can solve a lot of these problems.  Yup – I am bringing the old school back.  This second envelope can actually provide a layer of protection to your beautiful invitations.  So can Envelopments, and other thicker folding pieces.

2. I PROMISE your wedding stationery gal OR wedding planner IS NOT out to get you OR your invitations.  They were in pristine condition when they were left in the capable hands of the government at the USPS office.  BELIEVE ME when I say, your planner or your paper gal has just as much riding on these beautiful invitations as you do.  And the LAST thing we want is an upside bride or mother of the bride.

3. Reality.  Ladies, if your envelope gets torn, smudged or {God forbid} delivered in a cute little USPS baggie, I promise your guest will still attend the event if they do not have a prior obligation.  They aren’t going to look at it, turn up their nose and talk about you with the neighbor over a cocktail.

4. Just have a real conversation with your planner or your paper gal about how to possibly prevent something like this happening.  BUT please remember, that once invitations have been dropped off, IT. IS. OUT. OF. OUR. CONTROL.

5. Keep it real.  The point of the event that you’re sending this awesome (hopefully Olive Paper) invitation to is about a celebration.  Remember the reason you sent the invitation out.  It is important for things to look nice, but I PROMISE you, it will not ruin your amazingly beautiful, well planned event.

Jenn + John … the bride knew she wanted to have a J+J monogram (swoon!!) and I immediately had a few ideas that came to mind.

Here’s some goodies from the BEAUTIFUL wedding.
